Link Between Missing Children and Sexual Predator is a Strong One

Each year there are about 3,000 to 5,000 non-family abductions reported to police, most of which are short term sexually-motivated cases. About 200 to 300 of these cases, or 6%, make up the most serious cases where the child was murdered, ransomed or taken with the intent to keep.

The NCMEC analyzed more than 4200 attempted abductions from February 2005 to March 2010 and found that 38% of attempted abductions occur while a child is walking alone to or from school, riding the school bus or riding a bicycle; 37% of attempted abductions occur between the hours of 2:00pm through 7:00pm on a weekday; 43% of attempted abductions involve children between the ages of 10 and 14; 72% of attempted abduction victims are female; 68% of attempted abductions involve the suspect driving a vehicle.  Research shows that of the 58,000 non-family abductions each year 63% involved a friend, long-term acquaintaince, neighbor, caretaker, baby sitter or person of authority; 37% involved a stranger.

A Human Predator is a person or persons who might;
  • Approach with harmful intent (sexual, violence, abduction, to manipulate, to mis-lead).
  • Threaten with personal bodily, mental, spiritual, emotional, and coherse by threat of doing so to family, friends, other children.
  • Prey Upon children, their friends, their family members through means of intent to commit harm to their well being.
  • Molest a child physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually or with the instilled belief of intent that they would do so.
  • Attack a child physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually or with the instilled belief of intent that they would do so.
  • Exploit a child sexually, emotionally, mentally, spiritually by means of shame, guilt, threat, cohersion, giving gifts or necessary items with the intent to receive a favor that creates harm to the child.
  • Kill a child utilizing any means to remove the existance of that child.

Status does not exempt a person from evil deeds.  We are all tempted, some fall in the temptation while others resist.  Yet in other time those who resisted may fall in the temptation while those who previously fell may resist.  Preconceived notions when it comes to safety has no place in the judgement call.  Judge by personality, actions and instinct but always VERIFY.

John D. White, Pastor, Charged In Killing Of Fiancee's Daughter, Rebekah Gay

BROOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — As police frantically worked to figure out how his fiance's 24-year-old daughter had vanished, a Michigan pastor who had turned to God to shed his violent past went to his flock with a request: pray for her.

But all along, authorities say, he knew the sordid truth about where the young mother was.

The pastor, ex-convict John D. White, later confessed to killing Rebekah Gay to fulfill a fantasy of necrophilia, police said Friday. White drank four or five beers before going to the woman's mobile home and repeatedly striking her head with a mallet and strangling her with a zip tie, according to court documents.

Police said White stripped her dead body but does not remember if he carried out his sexual fantasy. After dumping the body early Wednesday, he returned to Gay's home and dressed her 3-year-old son in his Halloween costume, then later dropped him off with the boy's father.

Houghton said the congregation was aware of White's criminal past when he joined the church. He was released from prison in 2007, after serving nearly 12 years for manslaughter in the death of a 26-year-old woman in Kalamazoo County, according to the Michigan Corrections Department.

He had previously been sentenced to probation for choking and stabbing a 17-year-old Battle Creek girl in 1981.

Be a Parent - Save your child

It is time we stopped trying to be friends with our children and returned to being parents. I am not referring to this case but all parents and children. Until porn, human trafficking are brought under control our children are not safe. Even more so with the new national walk to school day by the WH. The encouragements to walk or ride their bikes rather than be taken to school is a accident waiting to happen. It is like alerting the nations predators of the feast opening up to them upon innocent children who have no concept of the dangers that lurk out there.

You cannot stop your child from living or from growing, nor should you be trying to or want to.  It is a normal stage of development that must be crossed but crossed within the boundries of safety and well being.  That means that you as a parent/caretaker have a part in the last phase just as you did in the first one.  Guidence and understanding of what they walk through and how they should walk through it is important.  Don't leave your child flumbling around in the dark for whatever is available to take your place.  Believe me, there are many waiting for the opportunity, don't give it to them.  Nothing is more inportant than your children.  Be careful not to go overboard as we tend to do........Growth and experience is a necessary part of maturing.  Just make sure the boundries are set and abided by so that the stretching and experiencing is in the sadety zone.

I suggest you talk to your child, explain what your are doing (if you feel you should tell them). Make sure they understand that your monitoring is not a safe guard but a precaution to deter predators. Make sure that they understand it is because you love them not because you do not trust them or respect their right to privacy. It is to prevent the predators that seek young adults such as them and their friends that you are protecting them from. Total privacy rights begins after they leave home, while they are there, it is your responsibility to protect them by whatever means necessary. Better a mad child than a missing one!

Missing in America

Over 800,000 children are reported missing each year, that's over 2,000 children a day. The statistics are alarming, but you can give your child an extra measure of security today. In today's society it is a must that we be wise and use that wisdom when planning and dealing with issues that concern our children and our protection and safety.
From these numbers someone is not being cautious enough with their children. Remember a predator will do WHATEVER IT TAKES to earn your trust so they can get access to you or your child. I am not saying be in fear all the time, God's word tells us fear is not of him it is of the enemy. God tells us to be alert and cautious at all times. we simply cannot afford to walk around in a daze trusting all because it brings of pleasure or friendships but God tells us to be on guard. You can be on guard and still have peace, friendships and pleasure, you and your children just don't have to pay the price when you are on guard. You are the watchman over your precious children DO YOUR JOB.

General Missing persons news

A local television station in Sacramento has received more letters from a convicted serial killer who claims he can lead authorities to dozens of victims of his former co defendant and a third man. Wesley Shermantine claims Loren Herzog, and a man the station is not naming, had as many as 72 victims.

Shermantine says he will begin revealing the location of their bodies when he receives $33,000 promised to him by bounty hunter Leonard Padilla.

In a letter to CBS Sacramento reporter Koula Gianulias, Shermantine said thus far he has not received any money from Padilla.

"As of now, I'm doubting Leonard Padilla's word," Shermantine wrote. "Just so we're real clear, as of today I've not received a dime.

In his first letter earlier this year, Shermantine sent maps to the station that led police to 10 bodies in three locations.

In his second letter, Shermantine reveals no new locations, but tells Gianulias that Herzog told him about "multiple, 24 X 3" victims. In a third letter, he hints that he has even more shocking revelations.

"I really want to believe in Leonard, but I have these doubts he'll come through, which is a shame because I've been holding the best for last," Shermantine wrote.

Herzog and Shermantine, known as the "Speed Freak Killers," were convicted of four murders between 1984 and 1999, but were suspected in as many as 20 killings.

Herzog's murder convictions were overturned on appeal and he struck a plea deal that resulted in his parole in 2010. Authorities said Herzog killed himself in January after Padilla informed him that Shermantine would be revealing the locations of his victims' remains.
